Kevin and Heather Dixon are passionate about wine, food and tourism. They purchased the property 16 years ago and are enthusiastic and generous within the community and committed to delivering excellent customer experiences.
Wild Cattle Creek Estate is an incredibly versatile winery located within easy access from Lilydale, considered the gateway to the Yarra Valley. As you enter the huge 200-year-old antique timber doors, a whole new world awaits, with one common theme – wine!
There are so many options for guests here at Wild Cattle Creek Estate. Apart from the charm of the Cellar Door, which is complete with open fire place, guests can enjoy tutored tastings of the full range of Wild Cattle Creek Estate wines. Lunch and dinner is available in the fully licensed a-la-carte restaurant or simply enjoy a platter and bottle of wine with friends on the newly completed outdoor deck with views over the vines.
Renowned Winemaker, Andrew Santarossa, makes the wines for Wild Cattle Creek Estate. Andrew has over 11 years experience and has made award-winning wines at Houghtons (WA), Argyle Winery (Oregon USA), Giant Steps and Domaine Chandon: the latter two are both in the Yarra Valley. Currently Andrew is Chief Winemaker for his own range of wines and in a recent announcement, will be the Chief Judge for the prestigious 2016 Victorian Wine Show. So the winemaking at Wild Cattle Creek is in excellent hands.
The fruit for the wines are sourced predominantly from either the vineyard at Wild Cattle Creek Estate or their sister vineyard “Langbrook Estate”, located in the Upper Yarra Valley. Established in the 1980′s, it is one of the largest privately owned vineyards in the region encompassed within a 650-acre property. Varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Shiraz, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Chardonnay, the very popular Moscato and a soon to be released “Classic Reserve” Sangiovese.
As one of the very few wineries offering Yarra Valley accommodation, guests can choose from a range of eight different modern and heritage style one, two or three bedroom offerings, with plans for further accommodation underway.
It is also a perfect location for weddings where guests can enjoy the ceremony outside in the ornate gazebo beautifully set amongst the gardens, overlooking the lily pond, vineyards with the Yarra Valley ranges beyond.
